I downloaded the new Version 8 messenger. Now I have no sound when SENDING..I miss that. Can I get it back?

I used to get a chime sound same as when I received. Also, When my window is open now I get no sound where as before even if it was open on my desk top it would still chime for me. Now it has to be minimized to get the sound of someone typing back.
