When should I start Yasmin?

I already e-mailed my doctor. I just got my prescription today and they weren't too clear. My pharmacist said I could start today and to use a back up plan for 2 weeks. the info packet says start within the first 24hrs of your period. I started oct 5 and ended this past sunday the 11th. Do any of you know or have any pros and cons to yas?
