Can I use a white self adhesive mailing envelope for packages?

I'm shipping a shirt and a Wii game to a customer . She's using the same envelope (9x12 inch) and I was wondering if I put a stamp on it like a letter or do I mail it like I do with boxes? Also... any restrictions such as height of items inside, weight, etc. and their pricing if I p it?
