Do you think the Zimmerman alliance letter from Germany to Mexico , intercepted during WWI,?

Yeah, the Germans screwed up. It isn't the first time in history for something like this to happen, though. In the Civil War, the only reason the Union was able to hold off the Confederates at Antietam, the pivotal point of the war, was because a Union soldier found the plans of the attack accidentally dropped by a Confederate general the day before. Talk about screwing up!
