What are the mechanism by which water act as a solvent to dissolve the solute? give example!?

Almost everything dissolves into water, the universal solvent. That said, the rate of dissolving is far less for some materials (gl?) than others (salt). Materials that ionize (salts) dissolve easily because they combine with water molecules. For other materials (like gl) gl molecules constantly are freed into the water and return to the gl, reaching an equilibrium condition where net dissolution stops (although individual molecules continue to participate). For example old Coke bottles (soda gl) found by collectors in a moist dumps are likely to be pitted. Henry's Law of solubility explains the mechanism by which substances dissolve.
